Might try the user forums on wd's website under legacy products for ideas on firmware upgrades. WD has abandoned this device and unplugged the server that used to house the firmware. There was at least one earlier firmware that broke support for a number of codecs. Mine has 2.03.20 - I'm guessing its the last that WD put out.
