Students admitted to the online program should be aware that they will need to adjust their personal and/or professional schedules to accommodate clinical placements. Clinical requirements are met in accordance with ASHA Guidelines for Clinical Certification: Students will enroll in 2-3 courses per semester, over a three year period. Admitted students progress as part of a cohort, and follow the curriculum as outlined. The objective of the program is to allow individuals, particularly "career changers" and non-traditional students, to pursue a career in speech-language pathology. Applicants should complete prerequisite undergraduate course work in speech-language pathology and/or related areas of study prior to admissions to the online program. The academic and clinical components are consistent with the requirements for certification in speech-language pathology of the Council for Clinical Certification (CFCC) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and for health and education licensures in speech-language pathology by the state of Virginia. The online Speech-Language Pathology program is aligned with JMU's residential program, including the same standards and expectations for graduation. The online Speech-Language Pathology (M.S.)
